    Art Journal Challenge- Day 5

    Last updated 1 month ago

What better subject for an art journal entry than that little creature who is always between your feet or in your lap whenever you want to work? So for Day 5 of our Art Journal Challenge, we are celebrating our pets!

Jack Hendrick has once again taken on the challenge of the day and is introducing us to his cat, Buddy.

Buddy brings a life to Jack's Stillman & Birn Epsilon Sketchbook, drawn in graphite. This particular sketchbook is fantastic for the pens and markers Jack uses, as it doesn't bleed through. However, the paper is a heavyweight 100lb paper which can withstand multiple erasures. The surface is smooth, with internal and surface sizing, so it's great for line drawings. And with a neutral pH, lignin, and chloride free, Jack is sure to have this image of Buddy for years to come!

Kerri Grogan has taken on this Superhero challenge! Kerri is a graduate of the UNC School of the Art and attended Maryland Institute College of Art where she received her BA. Her areas of expertise are Animation, Interactive Media, and Illustration. For her work she prefers Faber-Castell Brush Pens for their light-fastness, and Micron Pigma Pens for their line quality and permanence.

Kerri is utilizing her Stillman & Birn Beta Series Sketchbook for this Illustration.

Jack Hendrick also decided to accept today's challenge, but in lieu of a Superhero, has chosen a Super Villain. His Illustration features his Epsilon Series Stillman & Birn Sketchbook. Jack completed this drawing utilizing graphite.

We are at Day 2 of our 30 Day Art Journal Challenge, and the staff here are excited to be using their Stillman & Birn Sketchbooks. Our challenge today is to redesign the cover to a book.

Jack Hendrick- who we completed yesterday's self -portrait challenge, is our Book Designer today with his version of  Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea".

Jack prefers using his Epsilon Series sketchbook from Stillman & Birn. These hard-cover sketch books feature high performance, pH neutral, lignin- and chloride-free paper that is milled from pulp with an alpha cellulose content that exceeds 87%. The heavy-weight 100 lb. paper has a natural white plate surface that is finely calendered and is suitable for line drawings with pen and ink without feathering. The covers are made with extra heavy-weight binders' board that is super tough and resistant to warping. The  wire-bound books have 50 sheets. Bound in the USA.
